Meet Chewiebacca

Vor fast einem Monat hat unsere kleine Familie sich nun um ein weiteres Mitglied erweitert.

Heißt den kleinen Chewiebacca willkommen! 

Mein Freund und ich wollten schon Anfang des Jahres einen Hund zu uns holen, aber das war vom Vermieter nicht genehmigt. Jetzt, da wir woanders wohnen und unser Leben sich etwas eingependelt hat, haben wir die Chance ergriffen.

Der kleine Chewiebacca kommt ursprünglich aus Ungarn und ist fast 4 Monate alt. Er gehört zu der Yorkshire Terrier Rasse. Da wir ihn von einer Familie und nicht von einem Züchter geholt haben, wissen wir nicht, ob er reinrassig ist oder wer seine Eltern sind, aber das ist uns egal, da wir das bestmöglichste für unseren Kleinen machen.

Momentan stehen Tierarztbesuche auf dem Programm, damit er gesund und munter bleibt. Welpenspielstunden genießt er wöchentlich, um mit anderen Genossen zu spielen und zu lernen.

Da Chewie mein erster Hund ist, ist vieles für mich neu und ich muss mich in vieles hineinlesen, aber es ist eine spannende und schöne Erfahrung!

Wie er zu seinem Namen kommt, fragt ihr euch. Na, natürlich von Chewbacca von Star Wars! Aber halt die kleine Variante! Wer natürlich sehen will, was er so treibt kann gerne sein INSTAGRAM besuchen!

Almost a month ago our little family grew by a further member.

Welcome the little Chewiebacca!

My boyfriend and I wanted to get a dog at the beginning of this year but our previous landlords didn't agree with that. Now that we have moved to a new place and we have gotten used to it around here, we took the chance.

Chewiebacca originally comes from Hungary and is almost 4 months old. He belongs to the Yorkshire Terrier breed. We do not know if he is pure breed or who his parents are because we got him from a family and not a breeder but we don't care, because we try to do our utmost for him.

At the moment we have a lot of vet appointments to keep him healthy and fit. Weekly he enjoys going to the puppy play hour to play and learn with others.

Chewie is my first dog so a lot of it is new for me and I have to read into things but it is a fun and exciting journey.

How he got his name you ask! Well ofcourse from Chewbacca from Star Wars! But only the tiny version. Whoever wants to see what Chewie is up to, can follow him on INSTAGRAM!

Prag (Prague, Czech it out!)

Es hat sich in letzter Zeit einiges angesammelt, worüber ich berichten wollte. Das hat natürlich einen guten Grund, aber das erfährt ihr demnächst!

Seit Köln, habe ich eine neue "Liebe" gefunden. Kurztrips! Es ist einfach toll mal übers Wochenende woanders zu sein. Mal was anderes zu sehen, andere Architektur, andere Sprache. 

Prag hat sich natürlich super geeignet, da die Hauptstadt von Tschechien gerade mal drei Stunden von uns entfernt ist. D.h. kurze Fahrzeit und mehr zu sehen. Unser zweitägiger Aufenthalt kam mir länger vor.

Am ersten Tag haben wir eine Stadrundfahrt gemacht und dabei tolle Gebäude besichtigen können und haben vieles über die Stadt erfahren. Natürlich sind wir mittags zu meinem Lieblingsrestaurant gegangen, ich konnte einfach nicht widerstehen! Die Kartoffelsuppe im Brot serviert musste her! Danach waren wir kurz im Einkaufszentrum um ein bisschen zu bummeln und dann ging es in ein Wachsmuseum. Ich liebe Wachsmuseen, ich weiß gar nicht warum, aber man kann es fast Hobby bei mir nennen.

Am zweiten Tag stand wieder die Rückreise mit dem Flixbus an, aber zu vor hatten wir noch einige Stunden Zeit, die Stadt im vollen Glanze zu genießen. Mittags aßen wir beim Hard Rock Café (ACHTUNG: die Nachos sind als Vorspeise gedacht, aber glaubt mir, das ist eine Hauptmahlzeit zu zweit!) Am Stadtplatz waren Musiker und Darsteller. Viele Touristen und Führungen. Danach gingen wir in ein weiteres Wachsmuseum, Grévin. Es hat wohl neulich eröffnet und ich war total begeistert! Was daran so schön war, war dass die Figuren richtig in Szene gesetzt wurden und manchmal kleine Add-Ons gab, die man tragen konnte, um besser ins Bild zu passen. Recht witzig!

Wir beide hatten eine tolle Zeit gehabt, das Wetter war zudem auch noch total schön! Ich kann Prag nur empfehlen (war jetzt schon das dritte Mal dort).

A lot of things have been on hold of what I wanted to tell you about. This has a good reason, which you will find out soon!

Since traveling to Cologne I have found a new "love". Weekend trips! I just love the idea of being somewhere else for a few days. Just to see something else, different architecture, different language. 

Prague was the right choice ofcourse because the capital of the Czech Republic is only three hours away. That means short traveling time and more time for adventure. Our two day stay actually seemed longer!

On the first day we took a city tour and were able to see beautiful buildings and learn about the city. For lunch we stopped at my favorite restaurant which serves traditional Czech meals. I couldn't pass the potatoe soup served in a bread bowl! After that we shopped around at the mall and later on that day we went to a wax museum. I love wax museums, I don't know why but I guess you can call it a hobby.

On the second day before we headed home by bus, we still had plenty of hours to view the city in all its glory. For lunch we ate at the Hard Rock Café (ATTENTION: the nachos are sold as an appetizer but believe me its a meal on its own for two people!) At the city center there were musicians and actors. Lots of tourists and guides. After that we went to a further wax museum, the Grévin. It must have just recently opened and I was excited! What I really liked about it was that the figurines were put in scene to represent something and there were little add-ons to make you fit better into the picture. It was quite funny!

We both had a wonderful time, in addition the weather was just beautiful! I can only recommend Prague (this was my third time there).

Michigan

Es ist schon ein Weilchen her, aber ich wollte euch trotzdem gerne kurz von unserer Reise nach Michigan erzählen. 

Mitte April (also kurz nach unserem Einzug in die neue Wohnung) sind wir für eine Woche nach Michigan, USA geflogen. Es war eine zu kurze, aber doch ereignisvolle Woche. Das letzte Mal, dass ich in Amerika war, war vor zwei Jahren als ich mit einem Freund eine West Küsten Reise gemacht habe (ist es wirklich schon wieder so lange her?!) 

Michigan ist bekannt für seine vielen Seen und hat auch die lustigen Ortschaften "Paradise" und "Hell". "Hell" (Hölle) haben wir natürlich besichtigen müssen. Es war wirklich witzig und hatte was von einer reinen Halloween Stadt. Man kann dort sogar heiraten, weil wenn man in der "Hölle" anfängt, kann es nur bergauf gehen!

Was mich auch total verwundert hat, war ein ALDI! Ach, etwas Deutschland in Amerika. Hab mich gleich heimisch gefühlt. Trotzdem sieht es drinnen anders aus und nur wenige Produkte wurden von Deutschland übernommen.

Von der Landschaft her ist Michigan sehr schön, sehr grün. Es hat noch geherbstelt als wir dort waren, aber man kann sich nur vorstellen wie es ist im Sommer dort zu sein. Viele Länderreien und Wälder.

Was mich immer wieder fasziniert sind die Häuser. Jedes Haus sieht komplett anders aus. Manche kann man sich in Gruselfilmen vorstellen, andere haben ein Südstaaten-Akzent, andere wiederum aus Holz, die anderen Backstein, mit Vorderterasse und ohne. Die Möglichkeiten sind unendlich. Obwohl das Ganze manchmal etwas altmodisches hat, hat es auch was gemütliches und heimisches an sich.

Nun zum eigentlichen Grund, weshalb wir dort waren. Wir haben die Familie von meinem Freund besucht! Es war schön viele von ihnen kennenzulernen, endlich die Gesichter zu sehen. Ich war etwas überrumpelt, da meine Familie doch um einiges kleiner ist und weiter auseinander lebt. Ich wurde herzlich empfangen und in die Familie willkommen geheißen. Das hat mich gefreut und hat auch eine gewisse Last von meinen Schultern genommen. 

It's been a while but I would still like to tell you about our trip to Michigan.

Middle of April (shortly after we moved into our new apartment) we flew to Michigan for a week. It was a short but eventful week. The last time I had been in the States, was two years ago, when I went on a West Coast trip with a friend (has it really been that long?)

Michigan is know for its lakes and funny named towns "Paradise" and "Hell". Ofcourse we had to visit Hell. It was a really quirky place and had a Halloween vibe to it. You can even get married there because you know, it can only get better from there!

What I was really surprised about was seeing an ALDI. A little bit of Germany in the States, it made me feel like I was home. It does look different inside and they carry little products from Europe.

The landscape of Michigan is very nice, very green. It was still Autumn when we were there, but one can only imagine how everything is in bloom during the summer. There are many farms and forests. 

I am always fascinated by the houses. Every house looks completely different. Some you can imagine in Horror movies, others have a Southern flair, some are made of wood, others out of brick, some with a patio, others without. The possibilities are countless. Although it seems a little old fashion to me, in a sense it has something cozy and homey.

Now to actual reason we were there. We visited my boyfriend's family. It was nice to meet a lot of them and finally see their faces! I was taken aback because my family is quite smaller and more spread apart. I was kindly greeted and welcomed into the family. That really meant a lot to me and it sort of lifted a weight off of my shoulders.
